Best Neighborhoods in Fairfax County, Part I: Chantilly, Virginia

Welcome to the first part of our series covering the best neighborhoods in Fairfax County, Virginia. For this edition, we’re visiting the quaint, charming, and super-convenient town of Chantilly. Located just 24 miles west of Washington D.C., Chantilly offers the peace and quiet you crave after a long week in the city blended with all of the conveniences you would expect of a major metropolitan suburb.

Chantilly sits at the intersection of several major freeways, including Route 50 which connects with I66 to take you straight into the city. Dulles International Airport is also located in Chantilly, making it the perfect home for business travelers. The sites of Chantilly are fantastic and include several well-preserved Civil War battle locations. For the purpose of this article, we’ll be visiting two beautiful new construction communities in Chantilly that we believe best exemplify the spirit and charm of the area.

The first is a townhome and single-family detached neighborhood called Prosperity Plains. So, let’s jump right in.

Prosperity Plains

Van Metre has created a truly unique experience in Prosperity Plains—both in home design and the neighborhood as a whole. The community features interconnected walking trails that lead you to several recreation areas as well as the pool and clubhouse.

The farmhouse home designs are inspired by Virginia’s homestead roots. They combine a little of the old with a lot of the new. If you know anything about Van Metre, you know this builder offers the best finishes, appliances, and fixtures standard, and the homes in Prosperity Plains are no exception.

Each of the models comes standard with signature designer kitchens and luxurious bathrooms. Features like flat-panel kitchen cabinets and “back saver”-height bathroom vanities that are usually reserved only for high-end builds, can be found in all of these homes. Don’t delay, these homes will definitely go very fast.

Our next community is the only new construction condominium and townhome community at The Fields at Commonwealth.

Commonwealth Place at Westfields

If you’re looking for a place to call home that offers total convenience right outside your front door, you’ll find it at Commonwealth Place at Westfield. Toll Brothers is offering the only new construction townhomes and condominiums at this ultra-convenient retail haven.

The Fields at Commonwealth offers loads of dining options, as well as shops, grocery stores, and services such as a dentist’s office and spa. Homes in this neighborhood range in size, location, and price, making the options for potential buyers extremely broad.

There are three sections to choose from, and each section offers a different style home in varying price ranges. The least expensive of these is The Fairfax, which also has the least square footage of the selections here. The most luxurious townhome model is called The Waverly. These homes feature modern designs, luxury finishes, and rooftop terraces. You’ll be hard-pressed to find a more charming community than Chantilly. If you’ve already been out shopping for homes in the area and haven’t visited these two locations, be sure to add them both to your list.
